Barrett A. Stern is an established family law litigator with a growing practice in the area of Collaborative Law. After admission to the Texas Bar, Stern immediately gained valuable courtroom, trial, and negotiation experience which he now combines with the principles of collaboration to obtain the best outcome for clients related to both property and children. With a focus on the development of effective short and long term goals, Stern is able to navigate clear paths to resolving issues involving assets, businesses, debts, custody, visitation, and support. He is skilled at helping clients develop and articulate effective short and long term goals, and then proceeds to effectively solving the difficult issues in order for his clients to achieve their goals.
A graduate of Syracuse University, Stern was awarded an academic scholarship, played varsity soccer and received the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics Academic Achievement Award and the Gamma-Van Raaite Award.
Stern received his law degree from St. John’s School of Law in 2002, and became licensed by the State Bar of Texas in 2002. Stern was a member of the Sports and Entertainment Law Society and served on the New York Real Property Law Journal. He has since been licensed to practice in the United States District Courts for the Northern District of Texas since 2006.
A Texas Rising Star Texas Super Lawyer, Stern has been recognized multiple times based on peer voting and independent research by Law & Politics, a distinction limited to the top 2.5% of total attorneys in Texas.
A member of the State Bar of Texas (Litigation and Family Law sections), the Dallas and Collin County Bar Associations (Family Law sections), the American Bar Association (Litigation and Family Law Sections), and the State Bar of College, Stern has also authored and written papers in the area of family law and discovery.
