Kip Allison is described as tough, focused, and effective. He is an experienced trial attorney who is not intimidated by bad facts his clients bring to him and is frequently sought out by clients who believe their cases are disadvantage by their own conduct. He is highly capable and experienced in handling complex and emotionally charged cases. When settlement is not possible, he easily navigates the courtroom. Custody and complex financial cases are his specialty. He has handled many cases involving complex financial issues related to the division of assets and liabilities, including valuing and dividing closely held corporations, sophisticated publicly traded stock agreements, options and other upper management benefits and the impact of partnerships and their agreements in divorce. He applies his skills and experience in accounting/finance to achieve an appropriate solution for clients. Allison has real world experience in privately held and publicly traded companies that allows him to be a resource to clients in understanding balance sheets, valuation of assets, tax implications and business interests.
Mr. Allison graduated summa cum laude from University of Texas at Dallas where he received the Accounting Excellence award by the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. He earned his law degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law. During law school, Allison was active in the Trial Advocacy program and Criminal Law Clinic.
Mr. Allison is a member of the State Bar of Texas (Litigation and Family Law sections), the Dallas and Collin County Bar Associations (Family Law sections), and the American Bar Association (Litigation and Family Law Sections). He served on the Board of Directors for the Dallas County Bar Association, Family Law Section from 2000 – 2001.
Based on peer voting and independent research by Law & Politics, Mr. Allison was named a Texas Super Lawyer a distinction limited to the top 5% of attorneys in the state. In addition to authoring and presenting papers in the area of family law, he has testified before the legislative subcommittee for Juvenile Justice investigating representation of juvenile offenders under the age of 10.
